A Finchley firm that knows the difference
A removals firm for N2, N3 and N12 — a patch with two quite different halves, and a strong opinion that they should not be quoted the same way.
Where we work
Finchley N2, N3 and N12 — East Finchley and Fortis Green, Finchley Central and Church End, North Finchley and Tally Ho, Woodside Park and the roads towards Whetstone.
Edgware has its own specialist on our network and we do not poach it. Muswell Hill, Golders Green, Whetstone and Totteridge are boundaries rather than parts of the patch, and for London-wide moves our pan-London sister sites are the better fit.
Two Finchleys
The single most useful thing we know about this town is that it is two towns. South and east is Victorian and Edwardian: tall rooms, original boards, a staircase with a turn, permit streets that narrow once parked, and almost no off-street standing. North and west is interwar and post-war: driveways, wider roads, room to turn.
At identical volume those are different lengths of day, and a firm that quotes them the same way is guessing on one of them. We survey both kinds differently — video is usually enough for the interwar stock, and for a period villa we would rather come and look at the staircase ourselves.
Period property
On the older stock the building is frequently more fragile than the contents. Lime plaster marks under a knock painted plaster would shrug off, original boards scuff, and period joinery does not forgive a corner taken at speed.
So boards and padding go down before the first item moves, the route through the house is agreed rather than improvised, and loft conversions get looked at specifically — what went up before the conversion stair was fitted sometimes cannot come down whole.
Parking is most of the planning
N2, N3 and much of N12 are permit-controlled. The leafy roads narrow considerably once cars are on both sides, and the Victorian stock has almost no off-street standing.
We check your specific bays at survey, advise on whether a suspension is worth applying for, and where the vehicle cannot get close we shuttle with extra hands — costed in the quote rather than added on the day.
What we say about time and cost
We quote in writing after a survey, and the written quote is the number. If something genuinely changes — a second address appears, or a lift is out — we tell you what it means before we act on it rather than after.
We do not publish prices or transit windows here because neither is meaningful before we have seen the job, and in Finchley the staircase can change the answer more than the contents do.
What we do not do
We do not quote before we understand the job. We do not promise a transit time we cannot stand behind. We do not take on a property without establishing that we can physically reach it. And we do not claim awards, accreditations, press coverage or customer numbers we have not got — if it is not on this site, it is because it is not true yet.
Cover
Goods in transit and storage cover are in place, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey and we will confirm in writing what applies. The contractual position is on the terms page.
Getting hold of us
The quote form is quickest. Contact has the rest, questions covers what comes up first, and areas we cover shows exactly where our ground runs out.
Moving in Finchley?
Send both addresses and a sense of what is coming. We survey — at the property or by video — then put a clear quote in writing, with what is included and what would change it.
